4rd Quarter Linkups:

Props 1

On October 21st, some SFA Chapter VII members, their families and guests met at Props Ale House in Niceville for a Thursday night NFL football linkup pictured below. Link ups are occasions for members to join together for good fellowship and camaraderie. They provide opportunities to network. All SFA VII members and their spouses and any other guests are welcome to come.

Props 2

Also on December 11th there was a second linkup at Props where about thirty Chapter VII members and spouses and friends gathered to cheer on Army against Navy. It was a great time but unfortunately we were unable to cheer Army into the end zone for a needed touchdown to win the game.

4rd Quarter Activities:

Timber Creek Distillery

The 7th SFA hosted an event the evening of October 12th at Timber Creek Distillery in Crestview, FL to commemorate the awarding of the Green Beret by President John F. Kennedy sixty years ago to Special Forces on October 12, 1961. This event was attended by 91 members, spouses and guests. Thanks to Chris Linnel for serving as the liaison for this event.

Blackwater River Adventure

CSM Gabe Acosta, the Special Forces Association Chapter VII and the Luke Garrison foundation conducted a one day camping adventure that included a 7 mile canoe trip down the beautiful Blackwater River. Seventeen families and eight single soldiers for a total of 51 attendees from Chapter VII and 7th SFG benefited from the most perfect weather and an intimate time in the Blackwater River State Park filled with fellowship, s’mores and laughter.

Honoring the Son Tay Raiders In commemoration of the 51st anniversary of the Son Tay raid to rescue American POWs in North Vietnam, the Chapter VII provided support to the 7th SFG(A) to bring raiders, family members and friends to the 7th SFG(A) compound on Eglin AFB to remember and honor the raiders. 4th Quarter Fundraising Event:

Emerald Coast Honor Games

The Emerald Coast Honor Games mission is to “Raise funds to support DEFENDERS of the Front Line.” The 5th Annual Honor Games took place on November 12th and 13th. This year the event brought in $9,000.00 which has been applied to the memorial account. Thanks to Derek Meyer for serving as our liaison for this event.

Jingle Bell Jog

The annual Jingle Bell Jog was held on December 4th in Crestview. This marked the 43rd time this fund raising event has been held. It featured a 10K Run, a 5K Run and a Kid’s Fun Run. There were around 600 entrants. We made $23,754.63 after expenses. We have one sponsor that potentially will donate another $2,500.00 and that will bring the total to $26.354.63. One hundred percent of the proceeds from this event are used by Chapter VII to support the families of the 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne). Much appreciation to Johnny Moses for serving again as the JBJ Director and to the assistance of his spouse, Jennifer, and their daughters for making this event such a success.
